Valid Internet Email

In order to submit an online application, a valid Internet email account is required. If you do not have an Internet email account, do not proceed until you do. Free email accounts are available from many providers, including Hotmail and Yahoo.

When you register on our site, you will receive your initial password by email. To ensure that you receive the password, you should free onlineAppHelp@gdnet.ucla.edu from any spam filter you might have. Specifically place onlineAppHelp@gdnet.ucla.edu in your address book (AOL), "safe list" (Hotmail), or "whitelist" (other spam filters) to allow inbound email from this address to come to you unobstructed. If you receive the password by email, you do not need to take any action regarding a spam filter.

Adobe Reader

Portions of the application, including supplemental applications supplied by the departments, require the use of the free Adobe PDF Reader. If you do not already have it installed, you may download it from Adobe.

Non-Refundable Application Fee

Before your application can be processed, we must receive your payment of the non-refundable application fee. ($60 for U.S. citizens and Permanent Residents, $80 for all other applicants.)

If you choose to pay by credit card, UCLA accepts Visa, Mastercard, and Discover. Payment of the application fee by credit card submits your application for processing.

If you choose to pay by check or money order, please make it payable to the Regents of the University of California.

Please note that your application will not be processed until your application fee payment
has been received. If you are paying by check or money order, your submitted application
cannot be processed until we receive payment.

If a check is written for you by someone else, be sure your name, as well as your ApplicantID (assigned by our system during the application process) and email address appear on the face of the check.

International applicants must remit the fee in U.S. dollars by credit card, international money order, or by a check. A check submitted from abroad must have on it the name and address of the U.S. bank through which international transactions are cleared. Cash, UNESCO coupons, international postal money orders, or Eurochecks CANNOT be accepted at UCLA.

The application fee is not refundable under any circumstances.

University regulations do not permit an applicant to apply to more than one major, with the exception of concurrent or articulated degrees. Please decide which of our programs is most appropriate for you prior to submitting the application.

Renewal Applicants

If you filed an application for graduate admission at UCLA within the last year and were admitted but did not register, be sure to select Renewal for the application type.

Time Limits for Online Applications

An incomplete application will be held in our system for 30 days after your last login, at which point it will be removed from the system.

You cannot be considered for admission by faculty in your proposed major until you have:

  1. Submitted the application fee in U.S. currency
  2. Submitted by mail or in person the required supporting documents for your major program.
